Many people begin to see the signs of aging in their face first. This is caused by gravity, sun exposure, the environment, genetic factors, and the skin losing elasticity. Minimally invasive techniques are popular solutions to address lax skin, wrinkles, fine lines, and depleted volume.

Dermal fillers and neuromodulators are the most popular injectable treatments to correct these aging concerns. With injectables, you can treat:

  • Wrinkles of the forehead, between the eyebrows, and on the outer corners of the eyes (crow’s feet)
  • Fine lines around the mouth and nose, known as marionette and smile lines
  • Lost volume from cheeks, temples, and the lips
  • Facial asymmetry

Who are Candidates for Injectables?

Are you healthy and realistic about your expectations for the subtle changes injectables can provide? If so, then this treatment may be right for you. Discuss your medical history, concerns, and allergies with Dr. Nguyen during your consultation to see which injectables can benefit your skin and improve bothersome signs of aging.

What Is the Process?

Neuromodulators, such as botulinum toxin type A (BOTOX® Cosmetic), relax the muscles that form fine lines, while dermal fillers restore facial volume and smooth out wrinkles.

Injectable fillers are most often made of hyaluronic acid, which is a substance naturally produced by the body to help the tissue retain moisture. Different formulations exist to address various concerns.

Facial fat grafting can also be an excellent resource for addressing facial aging. This procedure uses liposuction to remove excess fat (usually from the thighs or abdomen) and then purifies the fatty tissue before injecting it  into the face.

Dr. Nguyen typically uses a topical anesthetic to numb the injection site and a thin needle to administer the treatment. Most patients see results immediately. Fat transfer requires anesthesia and incisions in the donor locations to collect the fat via liposuction.

Is There Downtime?

Recovery from injectables is mild. Some patients experience bruising, itchiness, redness, and swelling for a day or two after their treatment. Avoid rubbing the irritated areas for at least 24 hours, and you can resume regular activities the following day.

What are the Results?

You can expect to see smoother, tighter facial skin. Your results are temporary and may require additional injections to maintain the results. Injectables can last between three months and up to a year, depending on the method and formulation used. Results may vary from patient to patient.
